Understanding the pH Spectrum and Food

Updated: Nov 26, 2021

“No disease including cancer can live in an alkaline environment.”

Our blood pH should be slightly alkaline between 7.35 and 7.45. A pH of 7 is neutral anything below is acidic and anything above is alkaline.

A body that is an acidic state has a decreased ability to:

  • absorb minerals and other nutrients

  • produce energy in the cells

  • repair damaged cells

  • detoxify heavy metals

An acidic pH can occur from a multitude of things, an acid forming diet, emotional stress, or toxic overload. All of which are found in abundance in today’s day and age.

The typical standard American diet is high in acid producing processed foods, red meat, beverages, and artificial sweeteners like NutraSweet, Equal, or Aspartame (think diet pop) which are poison and extremely acid forming. Work towards a diet low in processed foods, red meat, sugars and artificial sweeteners and your body will thank you. To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods. To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

Stress…. Let’s be honest stress is all but impossible to avoid in society today our bodies are in a constant state of stress. Work deadlines, personal issues, even the toxins that surround us create stress in our bodies, so the key here is to learn how to adapt and cope with it. There are many practices that will assist your mind and body to cope with stress, deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, mind sorting, and simply taking a walk in nature.

Toxic overload is another aspect of society today that is impossible to completely eliminate. So how can we ease our bodies burden? Reduce the toxins we put in our body AND on our body, pay attention to the ingredients in the foods you eat and the products you put on your body. If you can’t pronounce an ingredient odds are it is a toxin and you should avoid it. Choose Non-GMO and organic foods and buy locally grown produce when possible. Keep your cell phones as far away from you as you can and use the speaker option when making a call. Remove all electronics from your bedroom at night. And one of the easiest things you can do to reduce your bodies toxic load is to get out in nature.
