Let's face it there is just so much information out there regarding supplements and not all of it is conclusive. Depending on the website, practitioner, or even doctor you are getting your information from, you will get different answers on what supplements are important. That is why we decided share with you guys 3 supplements we can't live without. Now as always, we encourage you to do your own research don't just take our word for it. Your health is the most important thing you have, so choosing the right supplements is super important. Without further adieu here is our list:
1) Vitamin D - the sunshine vitamin
Helps build and support strong bones and teeth: Vitamin D helps to regulate calcium metabolism in the body by increasing the absorption of calcium from the GI tract, and reducing the amount of calcium excreted by the kidneys. Maintaining a normal blood level of calcium will help support strong bones as well as teeth.
Help to reduce symptoms of depression: Some studies suggest that Vitamin D may increase the available serotonin in the brain, thus improving mood and reducing symptoms of depression.
Helps support the immune system & fight inflammation: Vitamin D has been shown to reduce the damage of the inflammatory response of some white blood cells as well as boosting immune cell production of microbe-fighting proteins thus supporting the immune system and fighting inflammation.
May help reduce the risk of certain cancers: Studies indicate that Vitamin D plays an important role in helping reduce the risk of certain cancers and slow the growth of existing tumors in patients with breast, ovary, prostate, and brain cancers.
2) Omega 3 fatty acids
Helps improve heart health: Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and atherosclerosis, reduces triglycerides by slowing the rate they form in the liver, helps prevent blood platelets from clumping together as well as helps lower blood pressure and raise levels of HDL cholesterol (the good one.)
Reducing some cancers: Studies show that omega-3 fatty acids can delay or reduce the growth of tumors in breast and colon cancers.
3) Vitamin B12
Helps improve mood & symptoms of depression: Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient in the production of serotonin supplementing with it can help keep serotonin production up and thus helping to improve mood.
Helps reduce blood homocysteine levels: High blood homocysteine levels have been associated with the risk of heart disease and some studies indicate that vitamin B12 reduces levels of homocysteine, therefore, reducing the risk of heart disease.
Vitamin B12 also helps protect body cells especially neurotransmitters, there is evidence that it can help improve memory function and cognitive functions.
